About
Growing Reformed roots in Polish soil
For many years, the Roman Catholic Church was the guardian of Polish culture, national identity, and conservative Catholicism in the face of Soviet communism. Although spiritual apathy is now on the rise, many Poles remain loyal to a cultural Catholicism.
The city of Kraków is a cultural center, a hub for tech companies, and the home of the oldest university in Poland. But like the rest of the country, it is a city where religion is either Catholic legalism or considered passe.
We desire to support the newly formed denomination, the Presbyterian Church in Poland, by helping to establish a multicultural, biblical, Reformed church in Kraków. We hope to see this church plant become a healthy, gospel-centered community that offers hope rather than religious legalism and ritualism.
The church’s outreach ministries currently include a publishing house, engaging the arts community, an English conversation community, and welcoming displaced Ukrainians. In addition to the church plant in Kraków, we are also supporting a church plant in the city of Gdańsk.
Statement of Faith
As a member congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Poland, Christ the Savior Presbyterian Church Kraków is a confessional church, fully committed to living out in today’s context the rich theology, piety, and practice of the historic Christian faith recovered at the Protestant Reformation, and best summarized in the Westminster Standards.
The authority of Scripture
We affirm the authority of Scripture as God's inspired and inerrant Word, which is the only authoritative rule of faith.
A Presbyterian church
As part of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Poland, we uphold the core tenets of Presbyterianism and find our doctrinal foundations in the Westminster Standards.
A confessional church
As a confessional church, we are committed to reverent worship, Christ-centered biblical expository preaching, covenantal community, and loving service.
We seek to glorify God by proclaiming the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ alone and equipping disciples to shine the light of Christ in Kraków and beyond.
Vision
As a prophetic voice in a spiritual wilderness, we affirm the good but challenge the fallen in our culture through the Word of God.
Through preaching and teaching, we equip our members to live out the gospel through compassionate service, faithful witness, and generous hospitality. Our desire is to be a grace-filled church that radiates the love of Jesus throughout our city and beyond.
We are a warm and welcoming Christian community in Kraków. Although we are a Polish church, we embrace people from all nations and backgrounds who call this city home.
Recognizing the complex history of Christianity in Poland, we aspire to be a prophetic voice in Kraków that bases its identity not on culture but on the truths of Scripture.
Values
-
God forgives us by grace through what Jesus Christ has done for us by His life, death, and resurrection.
We strive to obey God's Word, because it is inspired by God and, therefore, it is sufficient, inerrant and authoritative.
We are a fellowship for whom salvation is a fact because it was performed by Christ and not by our own merits.
-
We strive to serve God’s glory.
The Sunday worship service is our corporate meeting with God and the culmination of our week.
Our worship aspires to be biblical, reverent, and culturally sensitive.
We want our worship to express the awe and wonder of God’s presence.
Our worship service reflects worship principles and examples from the Bible.
We want our worship to be Reformed, drawing from the rich history of the Church and be shaped by the wisdom of the Church throughout the centuries.
-
We believe that the church is a loving, open, honest, supporting, and encouraging community of a variety of people.
Despite being imperfect, we strive to be patient, forgiving, humble, and loving in our relationships with one another based on God's example towards us.
Because hospitality is a biblical principle we want to spend time together, pray together, and enjoy each other’s company.
We believe that God calls us to work in our community for His glory and to proclaim the gospel so that it permeates our city, country, and ultimately the world.
-
We want to be a church where people are discipled and trained.
We affirm the Biblical commandment to teach fellow believers in healthy Biblical theology and doctrine.
-
We believe that God has called us to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally, regionally, and globally in order that He may receive all the glory.
We expect people to find hope, forgiveness and reconciliation in Jesus Christ.
We want to train men to be pastors and leaders for our church and future churches.
We want to be a church-planting church in Kraków, Southern Poland, and other parts of the country and the world.
-
We strive to be a church that fits the culture of Kraków today and reaches out to Poles and people from all backgrounds while holding to the truth of the Word of God.
In cooperation with other churches and like-minded organizations, we desire to serve the needs of the city.
